Tuition Rates

Tuition rates are based on 12 credits per semester for fall and spring, unless otherwise noted. Tuition rates for summer are based on 9 credits per semester, unless otherwise noted.

Mandatory Student Fees

Mandatory fees support costs that are associated with services, activities, facilities and infrastructure that support students outside the classroom. Fees are required for on-campus and online students.

Maximum Fees Per Semester

The UND Student Fees have a maximum cost of $718.68 based on 12 credits. Students taking less than 12 credits, will be assessed the UND Student Fee at a rate of $59.89 per credit.

UND Student Fees $718.68
Technology Fee $72
Connect ND Fees $66
NDSA Fee $0.48

Fee Details

The amount of the fee represents an average cost based on the estimated number of students, mix of full time versus part time enrollments and the overall estimated cost of services, activities, facilities and infrastructure. Needs of both on-campus and distance students are taken into consideration and all students are charged based on the number of credits enrolled.

The Budget Office is responsible for the allocation of revenue generated by the UND Student Fees. Use of this revenue is reviewed annually with allocation decisions made as part of the annual budget process. The allocations for bond requirements are set at the time the bond is initiated and these legal obligations take priority in the allocation process.

A portion of the fee revenue is allocated taking into consideration the recommendation of the University Fee Allocation Committee. This committee consists of four students, three faculty/staff and is chaired by the Budget Manager or Designee. This committee is advisory to the President.

Examples of costs supported by student fees include Student Government, Student Health, Bonds, Technology, Wellness, Memorial Union, Career Services, Substance Abuse Prevention Programming, Multicultural Programs & Services, Athletics and the Judicial/Crisis Team.

Based on a long standing agreement with Student Government, increases to the UND Student Fees are indexed to the rate of the approved tuition increase up to a maximum of 5%. Any increase above the 5% is approved by the President under SBHE Policy 805.2 section 1.b.

Fee for auditing a class (taking for no credit) will be 50% of the regular, per hour tuition charge of the same course. Mandatory fees are not charged.

A collaborative student is one who is earning their degree from UND and chooses to enroll in courses at another North Dakota University System (NDUS) institution within the same term. The institution from which the student is earning a degree is considered the "home institution." The institution(s) that supplies courses for a degree is considered the "provider institution(s)."

The student pays tuition/fees at their Home Institution for the Collaborative Courses. The cost information is received from the Provider Institution. This additional amount will be included on the student's account balance at UND. Collaborative courses are not subject to the UND tuition cap.

Room and Board

On average, it’s $160 less per month to live on UND's campus than off campus.

Estimated Room & Meal Plan $10,170/year
Estimated Books & Supplies $800/year
